How to play Go Fish

Objective

Collect more complete four-of-a-kind sets than anyone else.

Setup

• Two to four players; seven cards each (five with more players).
• The rest form the fishing pool.

Rules

1. On your turn, ask one opponent for a specific rank — you must already hold at least one card of that rank.
2. If they have any, they must hand over all of them and you go again.
3. If not, they say "Go fish" and you draw from the pool; your turn ends unless you drew the rank you asked for.
4. Complete sets of four are laid down immediately.

Strategy tips

• Remember every rank each opponent asks for — that's the whole skill.
• Asking for a rank tells opponents what you hold; use it sparingly late in the game.
• When the pool empties, the game becomes pure memory.
