How to play Farkle
Objective
Be the first player to bank 10,000 points.
Setup
- Six dice; players take turns rolling.
Rules
- Each 1 scores 100 and each 5 scores 50.
- Three of a kind scores 100 × the face value (three 1s score 1,000).
- A straight of 1-2-3-4-5-6 scores 1,500; three pairs score 1,500.
- You must set aside at least one scoring die per roll, then choose to bank or re-roll the rest.
- Roll no scoring dice and you farkle — you lose everything accumulated that turn.
- Score with all six dice and you may roll all six again, keeping your points.
Strategy tips
- With two dice left and 800 banked, rolling is usually a bad bet.
- Setting aside a single 5 to keep more dice live is often better than taking both.
- Push harder when you're behind late in the game.
