How to play Sudoku

Objective

Fill the 9×9 grid so every row, column and 3×3 box contains each digit 1–9 exactly once.

Setup

• A partially-filled grid is generated with a guaranteed unique solution.
• Difficulty controls how many clues you start with.

Rules

1. Type or tap a digit to place it.
2. No digit may repeat within a row, column or 3×3 box.
3. Pencil-mark mode lets you note candidates in a cell.
4. The puzzle is complete when every cell is correctly filled.

Strategy tips

• Start by scanning for digits that only fit one cell in a box.
• Pencil marks are essential from Hard upward.
• If you're guessing, you've missed a logical deduction — back up and rescan.
